A gang who conned motorists millions of £ 5 with an insurance fraud ‘cash for crash’ was jailed for a total of 34 years.
The gang created Swift Accident and credit hire based in Luton and developed business through false and fraudulent insurance claims pertaining to whiplash personal injury.
The Group then filed hundreds of false insurance claims against innocent motorists.
They were deliberately causing accidents with motorists “vulnerable”, staging “accidents” between accomplices and later exaggerated damage to the cars and bodily harm.
Three of them were jailed , and Michael Kay QC, whilst imprisoning the group called the gang “greedy and dishonest.”
“injury claims were presented on an industrial scale almost”, he added.
“Doctors were presented at intervals of 15 minutes with people who had whiplash.”
Then, they committed assistance of 32 friends, including vehicle appraiser Christopher Fennessy, 38, to file false claims between August 2005 and November 2006.
The gang enlisted taxi drivers, lawyers and other professionals to put their names on fraudulent claims with an average payout of £ 9,000 per claim.
For falsification of damage to the vehicles, they used a JCB in a farm.

It goes without saying that fake whiplash claims should not be made and anyone suspicious of such activity should both tell their insurers and the authorities.
